FIJI: From Suva City, Fiji

Talofa lava or more aptly from the country that I am in right now Bula Vinaka! I am on my way back to Aotearoa but thought I would hit you with a brief update from my time here in Suva City, Fiji. I came here to participate in the Miss South Pacific Pageant 2009. Miss Fiji was crowned the Queen and a fantastic Ambassador she will be for our South Pacific Nations. Congratulations also to all the beautiful Pacific Sisters who participated in the pageant.

I need to make special mention of two day trips that were organised for us - The first trip was to Bau Island, where we were hosted by the local High Chief, his family and the heads of each of the households on the island. We were given a tour of the island including Fiji's oldest church. We also had time to give a quick beatbox lesson to the children of Bau District School.

The second trip was to Naboro Prison and organised by Mrs Ateca Williams, an advocate of the Yellow Ribbon Rehabilitation Programme originally from Asia and now in Fiji. Amongst many other productive activities and initiatives the Yellow Ribbon Programme carries out, Mrs Williams and others volunteer their time to teach inmates the Kip McGrath way of learning. Both the inmates and the prison officers were very inspirational you should read here to get the full story on the work that they do. Something I think other prisons could take a page from in order to make a better society. Truez Up!

TORONTO: Making Connections in Toronto Planet IndigenUS 2009

Saami sister Sara Marielle, Efiq (Indonesia) and Tjupurru (Australia). The only one missing was brother Kitch (we know you had business to do brother). Enjoy!

LOS ANGELES: From Downtown LA

Hardly had a minute to catch my mind from the NZ Tour - but all I got to say about that for now is: Thank you all to those that came to support, you are all very dope! For our next dates starting September 8th in Auckland then heading to Te Wai Pounamu (South Island)...get your butts on down to the venues especially to the gigs that are free! Anyway...

We hit Planet IndigenUS in Toronto on Saturday 22nd August.

Hooked up with a lot of good people. To the brothers Kitch, Tjupurru and Efiq, Brother Ernie (a jewel), Plex, Wabs, Gris (on the GRIND for real), Dalton (we will hook up for sure brother) all our Aotearoa, Samoan and local brothers and sisters that came to support, our Saami Connect, Katch and Mihirangi (safe journeys), the brothers of Doonooch, Diana, Fi, Sol, Reid and Ali, Sarah and Carla, Di, Jo, Emere, Whare and Carol.

Didn't get to many places besides the Sports Bar across the road from the accommodation BUT does Toronto have the most graff per capita/square mile in the world or what?!?! I will throw up pictures soon.

It was a bit of a mission trying to catch all performers but we made connections and that's what this is all about.

Now, I have to spend some time to breakdown one connect with a brother. His name is Ernie Paniccioli (google his name and get a clue). He is a hip-hop legend. And if you love hip-hop get yourself schooled up on this brother. Knowledge reigns Supreme. Check out this website for more information on very important work that this brother is doing. IF you have a chance to catch him speaking, please go support. His words brought us tears of joy. Beautifully Inspiring.

That's me for now, keep checking here and my website especially for gig updates for those of you in LA and San Francisco. I will be back with more information on that September 8 Exhibition Launch Gig, you will kick yourself if you miss it! Peace.

TOUR: Tour kicked off

We are in our third week of our local tour throughout Aotearoa - the KING KAPISI LIVE TOUR. This is the building process of the infrastructure that HHLH is here to do. Even though we are in an economic recession, that factor does not really matter. Peeps will come and represent if they can be bothered.

Shoutouts to the Malba's Bar crew in Palmerston North.

Wellington Big ups to Forry (sis, that probably is not how to spell your name but I remember you telling me that your name rhymes with lorry - so there it is) and Juse 1, thanks for the freestyle flow, its a pity we are on stage otherwise I would be You Tubing this ish hard!

In Gisborne, love to Tu and his lady, the Whangara crew and the Sessions boys for looking after our guitarist, seen?!?

Auckland... three flights of stairs with a PA system...Long good night. Thanks to the Khuja staff for being so accommodating. The crew, mad crew... DOPEST in the LAND.

We have been flat out organising EVERYTHING, I mean everything. From graphics to recordings, EPK's, manufacturing of products...everything. Please holla if there is something we have missed.

Show Schedule:
Opening: DJ Dusty Groove (hip-hop)
Act 1: Scalper (UK)
Act 2: Maitreya (NZ)
